Iraqi Regime Gives Base to MKO in Arbil for Terrorist Activities

TEHRAN It was reported on Saturday that the Iraqi regime has given a base to the Monafeqin terrorists (MKO) in Arbil, a city in Iraqi Kurdistan.

"It was not surprising, as terrorism is in the DNA of the Iraqi rulers and they do everything that they can to encourage terrorists in their inhumane activities," one expert on Iraqi affairs commented while talking to the TEHRAN TIMES.

He said, "The Baghdad regime does not have full control over Iraqi Kurdistan, and now, through the MKO terrorists, the rulers of that country are trying to reestablish their influence in the region." The terrorist, Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) are popularly known as Monafeqin (hypocrites) for their nefarious activities in Iran. They have assassinated officials and innocent civilians of the Islamic Republic. They enjoy the support of the United States and some other Western countries, including Britain.

Iran has tried its best to clean the slate and improve bilateral relations. But the Iraqi rulers have never responded favorably to Iran's goodwill gestures.

The MKO base has been equipped with the most modern weapons for their terrorist activities. The base is just 2 kilometers away from a base of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which has been fighting against Turkey since the 1980s.
